"I was afraid. I lost acquaintances. I saw my city being attacked. But I was lucky to survive and start over." Born and raised in Aleppo, Syria's largest city, Kamel Zinou was forced to leave his country because of war.
Kamel arrived in Campinas, Brazil with his parents and sisters in 2014. Even without speaking Portuguese, he passed the transfer exam at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) to continue his path to graduation in electrical engineering. At 24, he wishes for peaceful times and sees himself, in the future, working as an engineer in Brazil.
