Three years ago, I got the following message:
"Hi, Maurício Tanaka,
Congratulations! You are now a member of the TED team.
Welcome to the TED Translators program!"
It was April 7th, 2017.
Three years! Wow! Time really flies!
I remember watching a video of Bruno Buccalon's TEDx Talk, in which he recounted his discovery of TED and joining the TED Translators program. It all started for me with this talk at TEDxSãoPaulo 2009.
You can know more about my TED story in my interview for the TED Translators blog.
Today I'm celebrating three years as a TED Translator with 701 subtitled talks, 629 of them published, in 2 languages: English (31) and Brazilian Portuguese (598).
Here are more numbers:
- 629 subtitled talks
- 546 talks translated
- 54 talks transcribed
- 33 TED Translators reviewed my work
- 16 TED Translators approved my work
My first translation into Brazilian Portuguese:
"Heart on the sleeve of his hoodie" ("Paixão à flor do moletom") by Daniel Alabi

My last translation into Brazilian Portuguese:

("Guia para revisão de legendas no programa TED Translators")

These are my top 20 memorable talks.
As I said in my interview, "The TED Translators program has undoubtedly changed my life for the better. I’m immensely grateful to TED for accepting me as a translator and for enabling me to spread amazing ideas in Brazilian Portuguese. I’m honored and proud to be a TED Translator!"
